Obituary

Keith O. Nelson, age 80 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services following a short illness. He was born on September 29, 1921 in Sheridan Township to Carl J. and Christina (Lehman) Nelson. Keith had been employed by the Gerber Products Company as a millwright for many years until his retirement in 1969. After his retirement, he worked for the United States Forest Service for several years. Keith was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for injuries received during action. Keith was a life member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555; Fremont VFW Laurels Post #6898; Holton American Legion Cobb, Trygstad Anderson Post #397. He is survived by his children, Ronald K. (Vicki) Nelson of Spring City, Tennessee; Donald L. (Gloria) Nelson of Fremont; Judy Nelson of Fremont; Diane (Dennis) Walker of Fremont; Steve C. Nelson of Fremont; 18 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; one sister, Rose Marie Cole of Cedar Springs. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy, Gertrude, Marian, Ruth and Christina and brothers, Kenneth Clifford, Julius, and Charles. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 11, 2001 from the Crandell Funeral Home- Fremont Chapel with Rev. Dan Duncan of the Fremont United Methodist Church presiding and the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555 performing Moose rites of burial. Military rites were given at the Oakwood Cemetery in Holton by the honor guard of the Holton American Legion Cobb, Trygstad Anderson Post #397.
