Kelly S. Genther, age 59 of White Cloud and Newaygo, surrounded by her family, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont following her illness with Alzheimer's dementia. Kelly was born on November 21, 1960 in Fremont to Thomas and Carol (Fairchild) Shatney. Kelly graduated from Hesperia High School in 1979 and later graduated from Ferris State College with her Associates Degree. Kelly married Keith Genther on July 10, 1982 in Fremont and worked as a receptionist and secretary at the Newaygo County Career Tech Center in Fremont for 30 years until her retirement in 2014. Kelly enjoyed feeding her hummingbirds but especially treasured being a mother to her children and grandmother to her 5 grandsons and being active in their lives on a daily basis. Kelly is survived by her husband of 38 years, Keith of White Cloud; her daughter, Angela (Keith) Rock of Grand Rapids and her children, Corbin and Maddox; her son, Eric (fiancé-Jaymie Puskarich) Genther of White Cloud and his children, Archer, Tucker, and Levi; her parents, Tom and Carol Shatney of Muskegon; her sister, Kim (Larry Range) Salcina of Newaygo; brother, Kevin (Amy) Shatney of Muskegon; sister-in-law, Sherry (Thom) Miedema of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. Kelly was preceded in death by her brother, Lee Shatney in 1998.
