Keola J. Convertini, age 92 of Newaygo, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Transitional Health Services in Fremont following a short illness. Keola was born on April 22, 1920 in Newaygo to Ernest and Gladys (Aiken) Brown and graduated from Newaygo High School. She married Allen Peterson Sr. on September 7, 1941 and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1984. Keola later married Ernest Convertini on June 6, 1987 in Newaygo and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2003. Keola has been a lifelong resident of the Newaygo area where she had been a teachers aid at the Grant Public Schools for over 20 years and was a life member of the Newaygo United Church of Christ. Keola had been a foster parent for several years, was a member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians in Manistee and enjoyed attending the Newaygo High School Alumni Reunion every year. Keola is survived by her sons, Allen L. Pete (Marcia) Peterson of Newaygo; Bruce (Nancy) Peterson of Newaygo; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; many special friends. Keola was preceded in death by her brother, Madison Brown. Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 11:30am at the Newaygo United Church of Christ in Newaygo following cremation. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Newaygo United Church of Christ in memory of Keola.
