Kevin K. Carnes, age 57 of Fremont, passed away Friday October 12, 2018 at his home following a short battle with cancer. Kevin was born on December 24 1960 in Muskegon to Keith R. and Nancy (Bird) Carnes and later graduated from Fremont High School in 1979. Kevin later met and married Elvia Rodriguez on June 20, 1981 at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo. Kevin had worked at the Sappi Paper Mill in Muskegon for 27 years until the closing of the plant and then started work as a boiler operator at the JB Campbell – Consumers Energy Plant in West Olive for the past 7 years. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed the Michigan outdoors where he loved hunting and fishing. He owned and operated K & E Buckbuster whitetail deer farm and operated Nine Fingers Charters in fishing tournaments and charter fishing in Lake Michigan. Kevin enjoyed bowling and had rolled a 300 game recently and was instrumental in establishing the Muskegon Bowman's Club. He owned and operated Carnes Construction and enjoyed family activities. Kevin is survived by his wife, Elvia of Fremont; his mother, Nancy Carnes of Fremont; sisters, Karyn (John) Stroven of Fremont; Kayla (Dale) Tanis of Fremont; his mother and father-in-law, Valentine and Eloisa Rodriguez of Grant; special nephew and niece, Michael and Nikole Spoelman and their children, Tanner and Teagan of Fremont; other nieces and nephews, Matt, Brandon and Mikey Stroven; David McGarvey of Fremont; Shelbie McGarvey of Fremont; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Irma (Abel) Coronado of Grant; Yolanda Rodriguez of Grant; Valentine "JR" (Becky) Rodriguez of Grant; Hilda (Dave) Dieble of Grant; Rick Rodriguez of Grant; Cynthia (Kelly) Rodriguez of Cedar Springs; Melinda (Bernie) Harris of Newaygo; several other great nieces, nephews and extended family members.
