Kevin D. Wilks, age 58 of Fremont, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 7, 2022. Kevin was born on July 13, 1963 in Fremont to Eugene and Linda (Church) Wilks and graduated from Fremont High School in 1982. Kevin joined the United States Air Force after graduation where he served until his honorable discharge and then served in the Michigan Air National Guard. While serving the in the United States Air Force, Kevin met and married Patricia Zealer on January 28, 1984 in Whitehall. Kevin was a longtime resident of the Fremont area and had worked at Nestle - Gerber Products Company for the 35 years in the maintenance department the entire time working at Gerber. Kevin had a strong work ethic in life and loved his work but also in his daily life, he was never one to sit idle. He enjoyed boating, motocross, sewing, recently became involved in politics, going to tractor pulls with his father, and attending Redbud Motocross Events with his daughter Madison. Kevin had a special relationship with his grandchildren who all called him "Papa" Kevin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patty of Fremont; his children and grandchildren, son - Jason (Melyssa Rogers) of Fremont and their children, Jaden Greer, Rylee Wilks; son – Chad (Lauren Plath) Wilks of Grand Rapids; son – Brent (Melissa) Wilks of Fremont and their children, Bryson, Paisley, Emmett, Beckett, Luke Wilks; daughter, Samantha (Chris McCallum) Wilks of Hesperia and their children, Alexis Wilks-Tinkham, Caleb and Cameron McCallum; daughter, Madison Wilks of Fremont; his mother, Linda Maitland of Holton; his father and stepmother, Gene & Claudia Wilks of Newaygo; his sister, Tara (Ken) Robinson of Fremont; his brother, Jeff Wilks of Holton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and his work family from Nestle of 35 years; several stepbrothers and stepsisters. Kevin was preceded in death by his sister, Erica Dawn Wilks; sister, Tami Jo Anible; stepfather, Daniel Matiland; his cousin, Jesse Willette.
