Kevin attended McCallum Elementary School (one-room school house on the corner of Roosevelt and 200th Ave in Greenwood Township), St. Michael’s School in Brunswick, and Holton Public Schools. After Kevin’s high school years, he joined the Coast Guard in the fall of 1975 and served on the east coast for 4 years.

Kevin returned to “the homestead” in Holton where he began his work adventures as a communication linesman traveling to many states to construct new cable and telephone lines and build hybrid fiber to coax systems. Eventually teaming up with brothers Bill and Bob in Zack Utility Contactors. In the last years, Kevin enjoyed a more relaxed form of employment grinding stumps for Zack’s Extreme Tree Service.

Kevin is survived by: his brother, Robert (Bob) L Zack II (Amy Brookhouse); loving partner and friend, Jules (Julie) Ely; sister-in-law, Jenny Zack; niece, Sarah Ward; nephew, Curt Zack; brother-in-law, Don Beattie; life long friends and partners in mis-adventures, Dan Taylor and Milton (Junior) Guernsey.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, Connie and Bud; sister, Coral Zack; brother, Bill Zack; step-father, Sonny DuBois; step-brothers, John DuBois and Dennis DuBois; step-sisters, Pam Beattie and Teresa Hill.

Julie, Bob and Amy would like to thank Corewell Hospice and Newaygo County Compassion House for their loving and dignified care for Kevin.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Holton American Legion Post 397, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
