Larry Cook, age 68 of Fremont, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Larry was born on May 20, 1953 in Carbon Hill, Alabama to Amon and Ruby (Paire) Cook and moved to the Fremont area in 1993 from Carbon Hill, Alabama. Larry married Sharon Westbrook Cook in June 1995. Larry had worked at TESA Tape in Sparta for many years as a machine operator until his retirement. Larry enjoyed treasure hunting in Alabama and in Michigan – searching for Indian artifacts; enjoyed watching baseball and college football and had a fondness for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team; enjoyed reading western books especially written by Louis L'Amour and also books written by Steven King. Larry especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon of Fremont; his children and grandchildren, April Dawn (Kevin) McGough of Haleyville, Alabama and her daughters, Natalie Elizabeth Welch and Lauren Grace Welch; Ruby (Matt) Calantjis of Fremont and their daughter, Emma Calantjis; Jeremiah Cook of Fremont and his sons, Jayce Cook and Alex Gomez; Jon-Erik Cook of Fremont; his grandson, Dustin Cook; sisters, Susan McCollum of Abbeville, Mississippi; Caroline Ennis of Carbon Hill, Alabama; Jemima Lawless of California; several nieces and nephews. Larry was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Cook; his parents, Amon and Ruby Cook; brothers and sisters, Terry Cook, Doyle Cook, Rose Marie Flippo; Jewell Anderson; Geraldine Carey; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clyde and Kay Westbrook.
A Celebration of Life Service is being planned for later this fall with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Fremont. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Larry Cook family to assist with funeral expenses.
