Larry J. Davis, age 83, of White Cloud passed away on March 19, 2021, at his winter home in Zephyr Hills, Florida. Larry was born on September 30, 1937, in White Cloud to August Elsworth and Elsie Inger (Wismar) Davis and married Virginia Doris Root on August 31, 1957, at the White Cloud Lutheran Church. Larry owned and operated Davis Auto Repair for many years and had worked at the Newaygo County Road Commission and Jack's Trucking and Excavating. He had been an announcer at the dragstrip in Brohman, was an avid U of M sports fan, 200 average bowler, enjoyed golfing, cards, and was a charter member and trustee of the White Cloud Eagles. Larry looked forward to family gatherings and cherished time with his grandchildren. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia; sons, Rick (Sunny) Davis of White Cloud, Larry "Butch" Davis of White Cloud, and Tom (Tammy) Davis of Traverse City; grandchildren, Monica (Phil) Traynor, Andrew Davis, Chad Davis, Levi Davis, Brett Davis, Elyse Davis, and Shane Davis; great-grandchildren, Kara Davis, Xander Traynor, and Cadence Traynor; sisters, Eloise Simmons of Indiana and Marvel (Kevin) Povey of White Cloud; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Audrey Davis, Joyce Moore, Melody Olson, Penny Underhill, and Henrietta Davis; and brothers-in-law, Chuck Root and Ross Normand. He was preceded by his son, Glenn A. "Buck" Davis and brother, Peter Davis. A Memorial Service for Larry will be held at 1 PM on Friday, May 14, 2021, at the Crandell Funeral Home in White Cloud with Barb Page-Liescheidt officiating. There will be visitation prior to the service starting at noon. Interment will be in White Cloud Cemetery. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider the White Cloud Eagles. Friends may share memories and condolences online at www.crandellfh.com. There will be a limited number of people allowed into the funeral home during the visitation and service. Friends will need to rotate in and out of the funeral home. Friends will also be able to listen to the memorial service on their car radio on 99.9FM in the funeral home parking lot.
