Larry Eugene De Vormer Sr., age 92, of Walkerville passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Spectrum Health Services – Gerber Memorial. Larry was born on August 23, 1927, in Grand Rapids to James Henry and Tanetta Louise (Schlientz) De Vormer and retired from General Motors Company after over 30 years. Larry proudly served in the United States Army during WWII and was an instructor at West Point. He was a member of the Big Jackson Church of God in Paris, Michigan.
Larry is survived by his children, Larry Dean De Vormer of Rockford; Memory (Chris) Weber of New Mexico; and Larry Eugene De Vormer Jr. of Byron Center; grandchildren, Troy De Vormer and Jessica (John) Newhof; sister and brothers, Evelyn Bruinekool of Richland, Lloyd (Doris) De Vormer of Ada, and Claude De Vormer of Lowell; step-son Eugene Knoth of Whitehall; his companion, Mary Erickson of Twin Lake; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eugenia.
