He was the youngest of 12 children with all seven brothers serving in the armed forces. Larry was an active member of the Resonate Church in Newaygo.

Archbold III of Morley, Jeanette (Rick) Birdsell of Newaygo, Jim (Geraldine) Archbold of Grant, and Bethanie Thomas of Washington State; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Kenneth (Jean) Fowler of Delton, Richard (Joyce) Fowler of Swartz Creek, Audrey Bulmer of Big Rapids, Marlene (Jim) Toogood of Big Rapids, and Barbara (Carl) Smith of Newaygo; and many nieces and nephews.
