Lawrence "Larry" Milton Hansen, age 91, of Newaygo passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at Mercy Health Partners – Hackley Campus. Larry was born on August 7, 1926, in Chicago, Illinois, to Hans Lawrence and Vera Mildred (Davis) Hansen. Larry later married Adele Leone Viilo. He had served as Township Supervisor for Spencer Township in Kent County for 12 years, Field Manager for Vlasic Pickling Company, General Manager and Vice President of Michigan Lanes, and was a Newaygo County Commissioner and Chairperson for over 10 years. Larry was an Army veteran serving during WWII and was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Adele; children, Sally (Don) Richards of New Era, Larry Bruce (Carolyn) Hansen of Grand Rapids, Steve (Marce) Hansen of White Cloud, Lynne (Rev. Abraham) VanSligtenhorst of Texas, Lanny (Cathy) Viilo of Newaygo, Kevin (Racquel) Viilo of Grand Rapids, Robert Viilo of Grand Rapids, and Lori Viilo of Newaygo; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his previous wife, Gloria and son, Michael Hansen. Graveside services will be held in the Spring of 2018 at Sherman Township Cemetery.
