Larry J. Kleis, age 54 of Brohman, formerly of the West Ottawa area, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011, at his home following a short illness. Larry was born on November 17, 1956, in Holland to George and Jeanne (Mowery) Kleis and graduated from West Ottawa High School in 1974. Larry married Sheryl R. Hassevoort on June 28, 1975, in Olive Center, Michigan. Larry had been a self employed heating and cooling technician for over 25 years in the Ottawa, Newaygo and Mecosta County areas and had recently been working at Haworth in Big Rapids. Larry moved to the Brohman area in 1989 and enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, had been an avid collector and Johnny Benson fan, was a jack of all trades, and always was willing to help other people. Larry especially enjoyed spending time with his family and teaching his daughters handy work. Larry is survived by his wife, Sheryl; his daughters, Sarah (Paul) Peterson of Paris, Michigan; Trisha Moon (special friend, Mike Smith) of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan; his grandchildren, Ellie Peterson and Sydney Moon; his parents, George and Jeanne Kleis of Holland; his brothers, Steve (Amanda) Kleis of Zeeland; Tom (Missy) Kleis of Fremont; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harvey and Lillian Hassevoort of Holland; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 1-4pm at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel for friends to come and share memories of Larry with the family.
