Larry E. Strayer, age 51 of Bridgeton, passed away Monday, February 11, 2008 at the Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont surrounded by his family. Larry was a devoted husband and loving father and was better known to his grandchildren as papa. Larry was born on April 15, 1956 in Fremont to Carl E. and Grace A. (Hinton) Strayer. Larry married Karen Fye on December 4, 1976 in Grand Rapids and moved back to the area from Kingsland, Georgia in 1989. Larry had been a auto mechanic and an avid woodworker. He enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, tinkering with everything and was always willing to help others out. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Chase, Michigan. He treasured the time he was able to spend with his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Karen of Bridgeton; his children, Jamie Ennis and fianc, Jerry Helsen; Jeremy (Makiiya) Strayer; Josh (Becky) Strayer; Jalena Strayer and fianc, Jeff Weber; Heath Brown; his grandchildren, Julia, Kristin, Gavin, Ashley, Xander, Jake, Justine and Lindsey; his mother and stepfather, Grace & Glen Hirst; Brenda Conkright, Sue (John) Foley, Tom (Angie) Strayer and Cindie (Ken) Miller; step sisters and step brother; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. Funeral memorial services weree held on February 16, 2008 at the Newaygo Masonic Temple Banquet Hall with Pastor Lucky Fulton of the Amazing Grace Acres Church presiding.
