Obituary

Larry L. Tingley, age 62 of Hesperia, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids following injuries received in a motorcycle accident. Larry was born on September 5, 1951 in Belding to Loren S. and Louise L. (Rutz) Tingley. Larry joined the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War and upon his return, met and later married Jan Prahl on October 4, 1986 in Lowell. Larry moved to the Hesperia area in 1991 from Lowell where he started work as a mechanic at Sandys Harley Davidson and eventually became the Service Writer in 1994 up to the present time. Larry truly enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed drag racing the Screaming Eagle Destroyer; helping people whatever the situation, visiting and meeting new people thru his work, and watching hockey. Larry is survived by his wife, Jan of Hesperia; his sisters, Sharon (Bruce) Sweers of Hart; Karen (Felton) Miller of Stephens, Arkansas; many nieces and nephews including, Bruce A. Sweers and family; Brian (Ruth) Sweers and family and Keith (Lori) Miller and family; father-in-law and step mother, Edward (Isadora) Prahl of Howard City; and his special family thru Sandys Harley Davidson. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Louise Tingley and by his mother-in-law, Sally Prahl. A memorial ride for Larry will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2013 leaving Sandy's Harley Davidson in Fremont at 11am with Military Rites being given by the Newaygo V.F.W. Sportsman's Post at 1:30 at Sandy's Harley Davidson with desserts to follow. Friends are asked to consider memorial contributions to the Larry L. Tingley Family for a memorial to be determined later, C/O Crandell Funeral Home. Checks should be made out to Crandell Funeral Home.
