LaRue E. Washburn, age 91 of Fremont, formerly of Detroit, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at her home following a lingering illness. LaRue was born on May 22, 1918 in Pennsylvania to John S. and Susan (Reighard) Evans and married Joseph Washburn on March 27, 1937 in Detroit. Joseph preceded her in death on May 10, 1996. LaRue had been a cashier at Farmer Jacks in Livonia for many years until her retirement in 1984 at the age of 65. She then moved to the Gaylord area in 1985 until 2000 when she moved to Fremont. LaRue enjoyed shopping and planting flowers in her yard and spending time with her family. LaRue is survived by her children, Leonard Washburn of Fremont; Patricia (Jack) Hannon of Newaygo; her grandchildren, John (Sandy) Hannon; Mark Washburn; Jeffrey Washburn; Eric (Jenna) Washburn; her great grandchildren, Julie (Jeff) Hawkins; Patricia (Brett) DeHoag; Allison Hannon; Sandra Hannon; her great great grandchildren, Jacob Hawkins; Eva DeHoag; Joshua Hawkins; her sisters, Ella Mae Hauck of Brighton; Elsa Lee Ikewood of Florida; Dorliss Hall of Northville. She was preceded in death by her sister, Zuima Krahn and brothers, Donald Evans and Doyle Evans. VISITATION : Tuesday, January 5, 2010 from 6-8 and Wednesday, January 6, 2010 from 11-12 at the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel.
