Laura Jean Mason, age 44, of Newaygo went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2020, at Mercy Health Partners-Mercy Campus in Muskegon. Laura was born on January 20, 1976, in Peoria, Illinois, and was an outgoing person with the perfect smile, kind eyes, and tender heart who loved the outdoors, beaches and sun, cookouts, bonfires accompanied by good music and dance. Laura was previously a customer service representative at Great Lakes Energy for 18 years who enjoyed her job and coworkers. She as an avid do it your selfer and loved to do home improvement projects and gardening. She was exceptional with children and the elderly and truly amazing in her ability to see the true beauty in everyone and everything. Laura had and an amazing group of friends and extended family that she loves very much and always made any gathering fun and sometimes silly but never boring. Laura's true joy were her children, Keagan and Taya and stepchildren, Riley and Zenn. She was a very loving and caring Mom with a heart of gold and wanted nothing but the best for them. When she was on her game, she was one of the best Mom's ever. Laura struggled with the distractions in life as we all do, but her love of her children and faith in her savior Jesus Christ never swayed.
Laura is survived by her children, Keagan Timmer and Taya Timmer; step-daughter, Riley Timmer-Wever; step-son, Zenn Timmer; mother, Barbara Richards-Gill; step-father, Tom Gill; step-brothers, Mark and Craig Gill; aunts, Judy and Anne; many uncles; cousins; and nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded by her grandmother Mary Richards.
Laura was laid to rest and given to Jesus with family and close friends March 18, 2020, at Crandell Funeral Home with the service being directed by Pastor Patrick Shea of Trinity Church of Newaygo. A Celebration of Life will take place at the earliest convenience of the family abroad considering the current circumstances. The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support during these difficult times and looks forward to hugs and love when it is possible to celebrate the beautiful soul and tender heart of our Laura Jean.
