Laura May Nelson passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026, at the age of 71. She was born on June 26, 1955, in Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of Alexander L. Raczok and Isabella I. Wolf.

Laura was a brave and courageous woman who faced many trials throughout her life. Through it all, she fought hard to maintain a positive outlook and continued to find reasons to smile, love, and enjoy life.

Laura was a member of the Moose Lodge and enjoyed being a part of her community whenever she had the chance. She participated in the Baby Food Festival and Parade, always happy to join in the festivities and share in the spirit of her community.

Laura was also an avid bowler and found great enjoyment in the sport. Her dedication, competitive spirit, and love of bowling helped pave her way to competing in several state championships, an accomplishment she could be proud of. Bowling was another part of Laura's life where her determination and perseverance truly shined.

Above all else, Laura would have said that her greatest purpose in life was being a mother. She was kind, fun-loving, and always there for her children. Her love for them was at the heart of who she was, and the memories she created with them will be treasured always.

Laura had a love for music and enjoyed playing her acoustic guitar. She especially cherished The Great White album and the songs in her old brown music book, which she held near and dear to her heart. These were pieces of her life that brought her comfort and joy.

Laura also loved going to the casino. She enjoyed the art of the gamble, the excitement of taking a chance, and the thrill of seeing what might happen next. She also enjoyed riding Harleys, embracing the freedom, adventure, and excitement that came with it.

Her favorite flower was the lazy Susan, but she had a special fondness for the hanging baskets her children would bring her for Mother's Day. She found great joy in tending to them and watching them grow.

Laura will be remembered for her courage, her determination, her love of family, her sense of fun, and the many little things that brought her joy. Most of all, she will be deeply missed by her children, family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Laura is survived by her children: Heidi (Travis) Nelson-Depew, Sara (Steven) Williams, Steven Alexander (Jessica Saum) Nelson, and Ryan Nelson; grandchildren, Abagale Shekenberg, Jayden Nelson, Madyson Nelson, Hunter Nickoloff, Gavin Long, Zander Long, Rhea “Peaches” VanOver, Arrianna E. Nelson, Conner A. Nelson, Serena Nelson, and Haiylin Nelson; siblings, Ann Raczok, Victor (Mary) Raczok and Robert Raczok, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other extended members.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander L. Raczok and Isabella I. Wolf; siblings, Alexander Raczok, George Raczok, and John Raczok; and several extended family members.

May she rest peacefully, surrounded by the love she gave so freely throughout her life.
