Brochu, LaVerle Jean LaVerle Jean Brochu, age 78 of Newaygo, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at her home. Jean was born on August 18, 1928 in Grand Rapids to John and Victoria (Nowicki) DeBok and later married Gerald D. Brochu on February 13, 1947 in Grand Rapids. Gerald preceded her in death on October 31, 2004. Jean had worked for the Grand Rapids Public Schools for many years until her retirement when she and Gerald moved to the Newaygo area. She then started volunteering for the Clothes Closet in White Cloud, part of the Department of Human Services where she worked for 15 years. Jean was a loving wife, mother and was devoted to her family and many friends. She enjoyed her loving dog, Pablo, fishing, traveling, garage sales, visiting the casino and watching movies. She was a member of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo. She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Gwen) Brochu of Grand Haven; Greg Brochu and special friend, Dennis of Washington, DC; Jeff Louie Brochu of Newaygo; her grandchildren, Chantelle (Mike) Robbe and their daughter Amber Robbe; Heather (Sean) Davies and their 5 children; her sister, Marie (Mert) VanDoorne of Grand Haven; a close cousin, Carol (Don) Blair of Newaygo; several nieces and nephews; lifetime friend, Delores "Babe" VanMeeter of Manistee. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carol. Funeral memorial Mass services were held on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo with Rev.
