IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lavern Royal
Nyson
December 9, 1935 – January 7, 2026
The Lord stretched out His arms and welcomed LaVern "Vern" Royal Nyson to his eternal home on January 7, 2026, after a long, courageous battle with cancer and simply growing older.
Vern was born on December 9, 1935, in Goodwell Township, Michigan, to Alden and Ruth (Smatts) Nyson. He attended Fremont Schools and graduated from Fremont High School in 1954. He joined the United States Air Force after graduation, serving 4 years (in Germany for 3 years) and in the Reserves for an additional 2 years. His employment career began at Continental Motors in Muskegon, which later became Teledyne Continental Motors, then General Dynamics. Vern retired in 1999 after almost 40 years in Quality Control - the last three years as Manufacturing Program Manager and Senior Executive Staff Manager.
Vern loved the Lord, his family, his church, his friends, and golf. He was a collector of antique pulleys and golf clubs. He also had quite a sense of humor and loved spending time with his lifelong friends, Delbert Sweet and Bob Hoad (his golfing buddies). Vern was a core team member of Harvest Fremont, where he loved serving as a greeter until ill health prevented him from being involved.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Lawrence and Bobbie John. He is survived by his wife, Violet, of 51 years whom he married on July 20, 1974, and his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as follows:
Daughters, Renee (Joe) McCormick, Sharon (John) Carrns, Hannah (Sean) Luker, and Lorissa Nyson; Son, Jonathon (Tara) Nyson; Grandchildren, Chance (Nicole) McCormick, Heather (Gary) Goerbig, Katie (Zach) Grow, Stephanie (Jacob) Fulton, Macayla (Cody) Theil, Sean Carrns, Amber (Chris) Erwin, Joshua Nyson, Christopher Nyson, Marcus VanVreede, Courtney Rottier, Cody Rottier, Anna Nyson, Sarah Nyson, and Alexis Woods; Great Grandchildren, Lily, Brady, Sierra, Skylar, Parker, Ryder, Oakley Mae, Eva, Kelvin, Weston, Wyatt, Evelyn, and Violet.
