LaVerne A. Hollowell, age 79, of Hesperia passed away on Monday, March 9, 2009, at Gerber Memorial Heath Services. He was born on July 10, 1929, in Fremont to Cecil William and Beatrice (Miller) Hollowell and married Lillian Rhoads on May 15, 1948, in Fremont. Vern had a working farm his whole life and also worked at Brennemans in Muskegon and drove truck for Kent Power in Kent City. Vern is survived by his children, Linda Brumfield of Tennessee, Vern (Joyce) Hollowell Jr. of Muskegon, Lois (Ken) Smith of Sand Lake, and Leon Hollowell of Grand Rapids; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hollowell and Lena Hollowell of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian on December 21, 2007; brothers, Max Hollowell, Keith Hollowell, and Myles Hollowell. Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont with visitation on Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm. Interment is in West Hesperia Cemetery.
