LaVerne Edward Waterman " Ed" , 68, of Holton Michigan, born on July 17, 1956, to Alice and Vernon Waterman in Muskegon, Michigan. Ed departed to his Heavenly Home on May 27th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Ed was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and grandmother Amos and Bonnie Waterman; his maternal grandmother Emily Burrington; his father Vernon Waterman, his mother Alice Twining and stepfather Richard Twinging; his uncle William "Bill" Waterman; his aunt Dottie Kielick; his siblings Ronnie Lamar and Donnie Lamar; brother-in-law Wade Vassar; and nephew Cole Waterman.
Ed is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Waterman, of 26 years, of Holton, Michigan; his three children Aaron Waterman and his partner Gracie Sullivan, of Canton, Michigan; Byran White, of Bailey, Michigan; and Donald White lll, of Holton, Michigan; his three grandchildren Emerie, Chevelle, and Beau; his siblings Mark Twining and wife Deanna of Ohio; Kenny Twinning and wife Laurie of New Hampshire; Debbie Waterman and husband Sam of Arkansas; Bonnie Edison of Missouri; and Sherri Vassar of Oklahoma; with additionally plenty of nieces and nephews.
Ed attended Steele Middle School in Muskegon, Michigan, before graduating from Lomega High School in Kingfisher, Oklahoma in 1974. He served in the United States Marine Corps-11 on active duty from 1975 to 1978, whilst on reserve until 1981. Ed was a Rifleman who served in the White House, with additional Rifle EX Badge, MUC, and GCM awards. He was known to be a hard worker all his life. In his younger years, he worked the Oklahoma harvest with his family. He also worked at a chemical plant in Muskegon for many years. He retired in May of 2022 from Mobex Global after 34 years. While Ed worked at Mobex, he started within the maintenance department, working up to become a Robotics Engineer. Ed gained many certifications over the years through different variations of trade schools on on-the-job training, gaining a journeyman industrial mechanic card. Ed was known to take pride and initiative throughout his years with the quality of his work.
In his spare time, Ed often enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs, smoking meats, going hunting with his sons, his brothers, and his friends, and hitting the green for golfing. He also enjoyed racing down the drag strips and building motors. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren and his boys were his pride and joy. We were blessed with 68 years with such an outstanding man who was loved and respected by those who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Crandell Funeral Homes Inc, located in Fremont, MI. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation one hour prior, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, to reflect on the profound impact Ed had on all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the family to support them during this difficult time.
Arrangements are entrusted to Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont, MI, where dedicated care and compassion ensure a fitting tribute to Ed's memory.
