LaVinna Gertrude Rottier, age 98 of Fremont, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 12, 2018. LaVinna was born on October 26, 1919, in Fremont to Louis and Addie (Britton) Miller and attended Aetna School and later graduated from Fremont High School in 1937. LaVinna attended nursing school for 1 year and then married John Henry Rottier on June 14, 1940. John preceded her in death on May 25, 2004. LaVinna had been a lifelong resident of the Fremont area where she had attended Denver Church and later joined the First Baptist Church in Fremont after her marriage. She had been a Sunday school teacher, enjoyed attending ceramics, painting and jewelry making classes. LaVinna always had a garden and had been a 4-H Leader for many years. She had been member of the Newaygo County Extension for 70 years and member of Farm Bureau for 50 years. She started the Garden Club in Fremont where she was a member for 50 years, and was also a member of the Audubon Society for several years. LaVinna was awarded the Homemaker of the Year in 1998 and was privileged to have her name engraved at the Meijer Gardens Window when she served as president of the garden club.

LaVinna is survived by her sons, Louis Rottier of Fremont; Gary Rottier of Fremont; Paul (Debra Cookston) Rottier of Fremont; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. LaVinna was preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, John Kurt Rottier; her grandson, Joshua Rottier; her daughter-in-law, Doreen K. Rottier; her granddaughter, Leah Marie Rottier; her sisters, Betty Knudson, Lorrene Donker, Addie Christenson.

VISITATION : Sunday, Feb 18, 2018 from 2-5pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI 49412 and Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 from 11-12pm at the First Baptist Church 51 W Oak Street Fremont. FUNERAL SERVICES : Monday, Feb. 19, 2018 at 12pm at the First Baptist Church in Fremont. INTERMENT : Maple Grove Cemetery. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS : Gideon's International.
