Hefner, LaVonna M. LaVonna M. Hefner, age 81 of Fremont, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Stonebridge Manor in Grand Rapids following her lingering illness with Alzheimer's. LaVonna was born on April 4, 1924 in Stanton to Sherman and Ethel (Pritchard) Gillespie and was raised in the Cedar Springs area. She later married Frank Hefner on March 29, 1942 in Stanton. Frank preceded her in death on September 14, 1990. Together with her husband, Frank, LaVonna co-managed the Hefners Gambles Store in Fremont until their retirement in 1983 and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Hefner of Bradenton, Florida; Gloria (Don) Delia of Newaygo; Joyce (Ron) Reul of Walker; Phyllis (Bill) Haan of Bradenton, Florida; her son, F. David Hefner and special friend Judy of Pierson, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her brothers, Raymond (Thelma) Gillespie and Melvin Gillespie both of Cedar Springs; her brother-in-law, Harry Wickham of Stanton She was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Delia and by her sister, Margaret Wickham. Private graveside services were held at the Reynolds Cemetery in Howard City. Friends may consider the Alzheimer's Association for memorial contributions in memory of LaVonna.
