Lawrence Maurice Monfils, age 55 of Bitely, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. Lawrence was born on June 27, 1964 in Grand Rapids and graduated from St. Lawrence Seminary in Wisconsin and later moved back to the Bitely area where he has been a resident of the area for the past 30 years. Lawrence had been the Executive Chef at Legends Ranch in Bitely for the past 20 years and had a passion for cooking. Lawrence had been a lifelong University of Michigan Football Fan, enjoyed reading cookbooks and was a cancer survivor. Lawrence is survived by his sister, Annette (Jim) Maat of Big Rapids; his nephews, Andy (Alyssa) Maat of Howell; Steve Maat of Florence, Alabama. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Margaret (Gallagher) Monfils.
