Lena Ellen Hollowell, age 93, of Fremont passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at Fountain View Retirement Village in Fremont. Lena was born on July 31, 1925, in Fremont to Zerald and Alice (Smith) Robins and married Myles M. Hollowell on December 31, 1946, in Fremont. She was active in Fremont V.F.W. Laurels Post #6898 Auxiliary and enjoyed knitting, gardening, and in her earlier years traveling with husband Myles. She farmed most of her life with Myles and cherished her time with family on the farm. Lena is survived by her son, Rodney (Robin) Hollowell of Fremont; grandchildren, Rachel, Camron, Jennifer, Matthew, and Bethany; great-grandchildren, Emalee, Vera, Fiona, Myles, Ashley, Alena, Maxwell, Noah, Taylor, Sheperd, Trenton, Kadee, and Hagen; great-great-grandchildren, Logan, Aubrie, and Cadence. Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Myles Miller Hollowell in 2008; son, Larry Lee Hollowell in 1997; brother and sisters, Donald Robins, Dorothy DeKuiper, and Arlene Lynch. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, December 21, 2018, at the Reeman Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Nate Kooistra officiating. There will be visitation on Thursday from 6 – 8 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont and then from 10 – 11 AM on Friday at the Reeman Christian Reformed Church. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider the Fremont Future Farmers of America c/o Crandell Funeral Home. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
