Leon Chester Atkins, age 77, of White Cloud, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020, at home with his family by his side. Leon was born on April 20, 1943, in Harvard, Michigan, to Bernard and Anna (Merznick) Atkins and later married Barbara Jean Diemer on September 7, 2002, in Kent City. Leon was a tool and die maker for General Motors Corporation and retired after 31 years of service. Leon also worked for Brinks, Commission on Aging in Newaygo County, ESPN and Disney in the Merchandising Department, and was a driver for Lakeshore RV transporting campers all over the country. He enjoyed traveling, camping, motorcycling, and farmed over 200 acres on the family homestead. Leon loved his family and was a member of the Woodville Community Church.
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, David L. Atkins, Randall L. (Darcy) Atkins, Christopher L. (Kristi) Atkins, Christopher J. (Ami) Diemer, and Brent D. (Kerri) Diemer; grandchildren, Daniel, Kasey,, Samantha, Travis, Carl, Liberty, Janessa, David Jr., Sarah, Calista, Caden, Emilee, Celia, Parker, Nixon, and Piper; great-grandchildren, Laynee, Chance, Noah, Quinton, Avery, Elaina, Kinsley, Paul, TJ, Holly, and Abraham; brothers and sister, Frances "Fuzzy" Cooper, Gary (Maxine) Cooper, and Donna Atkins; and many special friends. He was preceded by his brothers and sisters, Denny, Josephine, Kate, and Dorothy.
