Zimmerman, LeRoy LeRoy Zimmerman, age 81 of Fremont , passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 14, 2003 at the Spectrum Health Services Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids . LeRoy was born on May 24, 1922 in Fremont to Andrew and Ruth (DeWitt) Zimmerman and owned and operated his own barber shop in Fremont for many years. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1942 and served in the United States Armed Forces. He was a member of the Newaygo Pilgrim Lodge #131 F & A.M.; member of the Fremont Moose Lodge #1555; Holton American Legion, Cobb, Trygstad Anderson Post #397; Eagles Aerie Post #2106 in Muskegon Heights and had been active in the Fremont Fish and Game Club; and was a Eagle Scout. He was member of the Shufflers, a local shuffle board group and was an avid dancer in his later years. He is survived by several second cousins including, Ron (Marilyn) Stroven of Fremont; Susan (Dean) Anderson of Fremont; Jim Stroven of Newaygo; Roger Stroven of Newaygo; David Stroven of Hesperia; Paul DeWitt of Lansing; Nellie Schornagel of Fremont; Anita Bradshaw of Fremont; Louis (Areldine) Charles of Fremont; Harold Charles of Oklahoma; Jay Charles of Muskegon; Mildred Vanliew of Arizona; Josephine Grimarad of California. Masonic funeral services were held on Thursday, October 16, 2003 from the Crandell Funeral Home Fremont Chapel with Newaygo Pilgrim Lodge #131 presiding with military graveside services on Friday, October 17, 2003 at the Maple Grove Cemetery given by the Holton American Legion Cobb, Trygstad Anderson Post #391.
