Leta Helen Sowles Leta Helen Sowles, age 95 of Hesperia, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2000 at the Transitonal Health Services in Fremont. She was born on January 1, 1905 in Fremont to John and Grace (Stout) Maynard and married Cecil Sowles in Hesperia on October 29, 1966. Cecil preceded her in death in 1985. She retired from the Gerber Cafeteria where she worked for many years. She was a member of the Hesperia United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Pete) Kroepel of Hesperia; her step-sons, Robert (Rose) Dubois of Galien, Michigan, Dale (Nancy) Dubois of Montague, Paul (Linda) Dubois of Kissimmee, Florida, Gary Sowles of Muskegon; son-in-law Joseph (Lisa) Gerdes of Hesperia; several grandchildren; many great grandchildren. brother Jack Maynard of Fremont; sister Geraldine Hewitt of Fremont; several nieces and nephews. One daughter, Anna Lee Gerdes and one sister Lois Dickinson preceded her in death. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 1, 2000 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with interment in the East Hesperia Cemetery. Arrangements by Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont.
