Lewis Lynn Birdsell, age 67 of Newaygo, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at his home. Lewis was born on February 8, 1950 in Witchita, Kansas to Jack and Grace (Thompson) Birdsell and graduated from Creston High School in 1970. He later attended Ferris State College for auto repair training and had been an auto body repair technician for various auto dealerships in the greater Grand Rapids area until his retirement. Lewis married Kathleen Ellis on June 5, 1970 in Grand Rapids. Lewis later moved to the Newaygo area in 1993. Lewis had been an avid and longtime bowler, enjoyed fishing, prospecting for gold in Alaska; playing golf, watching drag racing and the Detroit Tigers baseball, enjoyed riding motorcycles in his younger years and had been a member of the 4-Wheel Drive Club.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Kathy; his daughter, Michelle (Nelson) Bean of Twin Lake; Michael Birdsell of Grand Rapids; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his sisters, Char Birdsell of Newaygo; Dia (Tate) Egger of Holland; his brothers, Randy (Ellen) Birdsell of Bay City; Rick (Jeanette) Birdsell of Newaygo; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

VISITATION : Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 9:30am to 11:00am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel 7193 W 48th Street Fremont MI FUNERAL SERVICES : Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 11am at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. INTERMENT : Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUITONS : Charity of the donors choice.
