Lillian Avah Japenga, age 83, of Hesperia passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus in Muskegon. Lillian was born on July 19, 1925, in Shelby, to Norman and Florence (Croff) Wambaugh and married James Japenga on December 17, 1945. Lillian loved quilting and had been a school bus driver for the Fruitport School System for over 15 years. Lillian is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Sam) Stenberg of Hesperia; brother, Garth (Francis) Wambaugh of Muskegon; grandchildren, paula Johnson and Shawn (Julie) Stenberg; great grandchildren, Kinsey, Haley, Mason, Jaycee, Katelyn, Catherine, and Addison; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James onJuly 27, 1988. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, from 4-7p.m. and Friday 1 hour prior to the service at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00a.m. at the funeral home with interment in Sullivan Township Cemetery.
