L. Lucile Griswold, age 96, of Fremont went to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont with her family by her side. Lucile was born on April 11, 1914, in Hesperia, the daughter of Roy and Amy (Ferris) Millis and married Fenton Griswold on August 23, 1931, in Fremont. Lucile and Fenton operated fruit orchards from their farm at Crystal Lake for over 20 years. She was the only living Charter member of the First Baptist Church in Fremont. She served on the Child Evangelism Board of Newaygo County for over forty years, and had taught Sunday school and Bible school; and had been president of the Womens Missionary Society. She had worked at the Medical Care Facility for over 30 years, and was a member of the Gray Ladies Red Cross helping with mobile blood drives. She had also served on the Sherman Township Election Board. Lucile is survived by her children, Richard (Sharon) Griswold of Fremont, Stanley (Rose) Griswold of Fremont, and Marcus (Mary Kay) Griswold of Lachine; eight grandchildren; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Leora Leverence of Alabama; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fenton, in 1992; brothers, LeRoy Millis and Ferris Millis; sisters, Kathryn Allhands and Florence Vaughn; granddaughter, Linda Grove; and a great-great grandchild, Caleb Fern. Visitation will be Sunday, January 2, 2011, from 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont. Visitation will also be held from 1011:00 AM on Monday at the First Baptist Church in Fremont. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday at the Church with interment in Sherman Township Cemetery.
