Lois J. Staples, age 68 of Newaygo, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015 at her home following a long illness. Lois was born on November 28, 1946 in Big Prairie Township to Edgar Alden and Sadie Elizabeth (Aishe) Westgate and graduated from Morley Stanwood High School in 1964. Lois later married Leon Staples on March 26, 1966 in Newaygo and has been a lifelong resident of the area. Lois had worked for the General Motors Company Fischer Plant #2 in Grand Rapids as an inspector and in the sewing department for many years until her retirement in November 2005. Lois enjoyed traveling, painting, art and antiques, collecting semi precious stones and working suduko puzzles. Lois especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and her family. Lois is survived by her husband, Leon of Newaygo; her children Richard (Kristin) Staples of Newaygo; Michael (Victoria) Staples of Chico, California; her grandchildren, Jacob and Rachel Staples and Seth and Emily Staples; her mother, Sadie Westgate of Newaygo; sisters and brothers, Donald (Sue) Westgate of Brooklyn, Michigan; Rodney Westgate of Newaygo; Ray (Carolyn) Westgate of Newaygo; Edna Wood of Newaygo; Robert (Linda) Westgate of Newaygo; Thomas (Sandy) Westgate of Newaygo; Ida Krueger of Newaygo; sister-in-laws, RoseZetta Staples, Twila Nicholas, Rosslee Davison, Neva Westgate; Peggy Westgate; many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Westgate; her sisters and brothers, Marion Dosch, Wilma Jean Howe, Mary Evelyn Howe, Gladys Reickard Boucher; Barbara Jane Portz; Basil A. Westgate; Richard E.
