Lorrayne Julia Kangas, age 85 of White Cloud, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2003 at the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Muskegon . She was born on November 5, 1917 in Eveleth , Minnesota to John and Fina (Wiitamaki) Kovaniemi and married Elmer Kangas on October 21, 1945 in Eveleth , Minnesota . She has been a resident of the White Cloud area since 1946 where she had spent many happy years teaching at the White Cloud Public Schools until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the White Cloud United Methodist Church where she was active in the Esther Circle and United Methodist Women; active in the Michigan Association of Retired School Personal, life member of the Order of Eastern Star Unity Chapter #161 White Cloud and Newaygo and had served on the board of the E.J. Sharpe Public Library and a loyal member of the Friends of the Library in White Cloud. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Elmer of White Cloud; her daughter, Patricia (Joseph) Gerhardt of Muskegon; her sister, Joanne Mickey Neumann of Port St. Lucie, Florida, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, August 15, 2003 from the White Cloud United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Bowman presiding with interment in the White Cloud Cemetery. Order of Eastern Star Services were held on Thursday at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel.
