Lorene Sue Rumsey, age 75 of Hesperia, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2018 at her home following a lingering illness. Lorene was born on January 27, 1943 in Flint to Harold T. and Mary Lorene (Williams) Goodman and later graduated from Fremont High School in 1961. Lorene married Joseph Rumsey on September 1, 1962 in Fremont and soon moved to Hesperia where she has been a resident for the past 53 years. Lorene had worked at Ed's Food Center in the bakery for several years and had been a homemaker all her life. Lorene was an avid flower gardener at her home and enjoyed reading as well. Lorene is survived by her husband of 55 years, Joseph of Hesperia; her children, Brenda (Michael) DeKock of Zeeland; Sharon (Rodney) Becksvoort of Holland; Lynnette Rumsey of Holland; Louis (Nicole) Rumsey of Lake Odessa; her grandchildren, Joseph DeKock, Andrew Sorensen; Alyssa DeKock; Briana Becksvoort; Jessica Becksvoort; Nathan Becksvoort; Seth Bayle; Eion Rumsey; 7 great grandchildren; her brothers-in-laws, Lynn Rumsey of Hesperia; Thomas (Yvonne) Rumsey of Penn Valley, California. Lorene was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Irene Rumsey and her brother-in-law, Gary Rumsey. Private family graveside services will be held at the Sherman Township Cemetery where Lorene will be laid to rest near her parents.
