Loretta Pauline Moon, age 93 of Hesperia, passed away on December 7, 2020 at the Agape Home assisted Living in Muskegon. She was born on March 1, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Adeline Dorr who were immigrants from Germany. When she was 16 years old, she found her calling to become a nun and she moved to Wisconsin where she served as a Franciscan nun for 10 years. She fulfilled her vocation and relocated to Grand Rapids, Michigan where she attained her Bachelor's of Arts degree from Aquinas College. Loretta met her loving husband Anthony F. Moon at a catholic dance, and they were married on August 22, 1959 at Holy Name Church in Grand Rapids. She was a dedicated schoolteacher for 30 years where she was loved by students and staff alike. After retirement, Loretta and Tony moved to Hesperia where they loved life on their hobby farm. They were fortunate to enjoy over 20 happy winters in Arizona together. Throughout her life, she truly lived out her Catholic faith and this was most important to her. She would pray the rosary daily and she was an active parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church, where she sang in the choir and helped at many church fundraisers. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her best friends Lucille and Brigitte. She will be remembered for her endless kindness, warm smile, and faithful loving heart. Loretta will be greatly missed by her surviving children: Cheryl (Rodney) Miller of Hesperia; Tony (Rosemary) Moon of Saranac; Marie Moon of Gulfport, FL; 4 grandchildren, Wesley (Melissa) Miller; JenaLee (Justin) Zeerip; Katelyn Craner; Sally Jo Moon; great grandchildren Evelyn and Leopold Miller, Jack and Adeline Zeerip (named after Loretta's mother Adeline), Gavin, Jaimison and Landin Craner; and her sister Anna DeSanto of Quincy, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Anthony F. Moon in 2004, a daughter, Janet Marie Moon in 1964; and her brother Arthur Dorr. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL : Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ The King Catholic Church with Rev. Father Peter Schafer presiding. Face coverings will be required during the Mass services. NOTE : during the Mass, a limited number of people will be permitted into the church and friends may choose to listen to the Mass Services live via radio broadcasting on their car radios in the church parking lot on the day of the services by tuning their radios to 99.9 starting 5 minutes prior to the services.
