Obituary

Loretta Ann Vander Sloot, 73 of White Cloud, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. Loretta was born on January 1, 1939 in Grand Rapids to John and Nettie (Liszewski) Palazzolo and married Melvin Vander Sloot on October 31, 1959 in Grand Rapids. Loretta enjoyed reading, yard sales, playing cards and board games, and roller skating when she was younger. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud and was a member of the St. Joseph Alter Society and had been active in church activities. Loretta especially liked to share hugs and spend time with her family and friends. Loretta is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Melvin; children, Michael (Sherrie) Vander Sloot of White Cloud, Mark (Tess) Vander Sloot of White Cloud, Laura (Matthew) Priest of White Cloud, and Lisa (Brent) VanderMate of White Cloud; 9 grandchildren, Nicole Vander Sloot, Rebecca Vander Sloot, Amy Vander Sloot, Scott Vander Sloot, Anastasia (Bradley) Burgess, Ryan Priest, Clara Priest, Jacob VanderMate, and Caleb VanderMate; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sally Palazzolo of White Cloud and Judith (John) Horn of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Loretta will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2012, from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM at the Crandell Funeral Home White Cloud Chapel. There will be a Rosary for Loretta on Sunday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday February 13, at 11AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Peter O. Omogo as Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in White Cloud. For a more lasting memorial, friends are asked to consider the White Cloud Area Fire Department or the St. Joseph Catholic Church Food Pantry.
