Lorita Joyce Fernanders was born on April 19, 1957, in Gary, Indiana. She was the second child and only daughter of Royal William Holston Sr. and Irma Jean Rooks. Lorita received Christ at an early age at Pilgrim Baptist Church. Lorita moved to White Cloud, Michigan and worked for the Newaygo County Sheriff's Department for 27 years and retired in 2016. She was a member of Glory House of Latter Day Ministry. Lorita was a well-respected member of the community. She gave of herself willingly, volunteering for numerous local activities. She was a big sports fanatic and had a passion for yard sales. She could spot one a mile away. She loved relaxing at the casino. Lorita is survived by her children, Damon (Angelica) Smith and Lakisha (Courtney Clarke) Toland; her grandchildren, Deja Smith, Dakota (Rodhem) Roney, Dakayla Smith, Kiana Hutt, Terrence Hutt, Teana Liescheidt, Jaelyn Clarke, Jakiah Clarke and Zavion Clarke; her brothers, Roy W Holston, Jr., Richard Lee Holsten, and Rodney (Cleotra) Holston; nieces and nephews, Richard Lee Holston Jr., Danisha Williams, Michelle Johnson, and Brandon Harris. There were many who called her "Mom": Kelly, Amy, Pam, Rykeva, Shelby, Wilbur, Jeff and Calvin. She had many lifelong friends, Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Lucas, Charlotte (Pat) Dunham, affectionately known as "White Mama", Alfreda "Cookie" Fisher, and Shirley Braxton. She also leaves to cherish her memory, close companion Marshall Hudson, her dog Baby, and a host of family and friends.
