Lorraine E. Hobe, age 91 of Fremont, formerly of Chicago, passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Green Acres Assisted Living Center in Fremont. Lorraine was born on January 26, 1930 in Marathon County, Wisconsin to Edward Jacob and Mary Anna (Slagoski) Hilber and later moved to the Chicago area. Lorraine had worked as a bookkeeper at the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago for many years until her retirement and then moved to the Harrison, Michigan area where she lived for over 20 years. She moved to the Fremont area due to health issues in 2019 and enjoyed genealogy, reading, bird watching and helping others. Lorraine is survived by her children, Lori (Wayne) Ross of Holton; Charles (Gwaycheng) Philipp of Lincoln, California; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Pamela Philipp of Hobart, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Philipp; her children, Donald James Philipp in 1950; Kay Carol Philipp in 1956; Judith Ann Philipp in 1956; and Mark Peter Philipp in 2015; Louis M. Hobe in 1991; and Charles Peter Philipp in 1994; several brothers and sisters. Private memorial services will be held at a later date with burial in the Restlawn Cemetery in Wausau, Wisconsin.
