Obituary

VanAgtmael, Louis Louis VanAgtmael, age 91 of Fremont, passed away Monday, March 29, 2004 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. He was born one of nine children on May 4, 1912 in Essen, Belguim to Chris and Catherine (Nelon) VanAgtmael and later emigrated to the United States in the fall of 1921 settling in Oceana County. He married Christine Helm on August 9, 1947 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elbridge, Michigan. Louis has been a resident of the area for the past 51 years where he was a construction worker and enjoyed farming and could fix just about any equipment of his era. He enjoyed taking care of cows, holding babies and eating pie. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Christine of Fremont; his children, Teresa (Theodore) Diduch of Grand Rapids; David (Josie) VanAgtmael of Tacoma, Washington; Donald VanAgtmael of Fremont; his grandchildren, Michelle, Theo and Mike Diduch; his sisters, Elsie Martin of Scottville; Mary Nuyens of Muskegon; Bertha (Clarence) Jensen of Muskegon; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, April 2, 2004 from the St. Michaels Catholic Church with Rev. Father Mike Alber presiding with interment in the St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery.
