Obituary

Lucious Wooten Lucious Wooten, age 108 of South Haven, formerly of White Cloud, passed away Monday, July 11, 2005 at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Haven. Lucious was born February 8, 1897 in Coldwater, Mississippi, to the late Mr. & Mrs. Pinkney and Minnie Wooten, the sixth of nine siblings, 2 brothers and 7 sisters. During his younger years, Lucious worked on a Mississippi River Boat and Railroad and later moved North to East Chicago, Indiana where he worked for Dupont Company. In 1932 he married Alberta Webb and he and Alberta moved to Grant and a year later moved to White Cloud where they were farmers until their retirement. Lucious was well known for helping people throughout the community. He enjoyed singing, playing the guitar and had owned a small barber shop in White Cloud for a number of years. He had also served as chauffer for a period of time for the founder of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason. He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Laura Ann Smith, one son, Cornelius Craig, five grandchildren, Sandra (Kevin) Kelly, Clarence Royster, Jr., Cornelius Craig, Jr., Andrew Webb, and Horace Moore; 14 great-grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, and a host of family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta and son, Albert Webb. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 16, 2005 from the White Cloud Church of God in Christ Empowerment Center with Supertindant Robert E.
