Lynn E. Gilleo, age 91 of Newaygo, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2020 at his home. Lynn was born on July 29, 1928 in Grand Rapids to Herman David and M. Ione (Goldner) Gilleo and later married Mary Jane Finkbiner on November 6, 1948 in Grand Rapids. Mary preceded him in death on June 22, 2011. Lynn and Mary moved to the Croton area in 1978 from Sparta. Lynn was a veteran of World War II where he served in the United States Army Air Corps until his honorable discharge and has been a member of the Croton American Legion since the mid 1970's. Lynn had been a heavy equipment engineer for many years and retired from Robinson Cartage and then spent his retirement years remodeling homes in and around the Croton area. Lynn had served on the Croton Township Planning Commission and enjoyed living on the Muskegon River – driving his pontoon boat on the river.
Lynn is survived by his daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. His daughter - Linda Gilleo of Comstock Park and her family –Gregory; Angela; Brandon; his daughter, Diana Berwald of Newaygo and her family – Kimberly and her family, Kendra, Hayden and Elizabeth; Christine and her family, Krista (Jacob) and their children, Trysten and Karsyn; Cody and his daughter, Makaylee; Chase; Cariann and her daughter, Avery; Melissa (Jason) and their family, Shaeleigh, Jasper; Shelby; Joshua. Sons of JoAnn (deceased daughter) - Timothy (Sara) and their family, Ryan and Travis; Chad. Lynn was preceded in death by his wife, Mary on June 22, 2011; by his daughter, JoAnne McCuaig; his brother Lyle Gilleo and by his sister, Joyce Hunter.
Memorial services with a celebration of life to celebrate Lynn's life will be held at the Croton American Legion, Post #381at a later date. Service information will be updated to this web page when services are determined. Interment will take place in the Croton Township Cemetery next to his wife Mary following his wishes for cremation. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation or the Croton American Legion Post #381.
