Obituary

Macil E. Tenney, age 91, of Croton, passed from this life to a life everlasting on Wednesday, April 7, 2015 at his daughters home in Rockford, Michigan following a lingering illness. Macil was born on September 4, 1923 in Tallsmanville, West Virginia to Jesse and Tilda (Tenney) Tenney and later married Hallie Kittle on June 5, 1949 in Elkins, West Virginia. Hallie preceded him in death on March 14, 2000. Macil worked for the General Motors Tech Center in Warren, Michigan as a heating and cooling specialist until his retirement in 1986 when Macil and Hallie moved to the Croton area. Macil designed and built their retirement home from the ground up and was well known in the family as being able to fix anything. Macil enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and giving them pontoon boat rides. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and was an avid bowler. Macil was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served during World War II on the U.S.S. Fessenden (DE142). He was a member of the River Valley Community Church in Newaygo and was a longtime member of Ferndale Free Methodist Church in Ferndale, Michigan. Macil was a man of strong faith and was looking forward to eternity in heaven with the Lord and being reunited with his wife, Hallie and the reunion with all those gone on before him. Macil is survived by his children, Gary (Esther) Tenney of Kentwood; Joyce (Rick) Roberts of Nashville, Tennessee; Lynn (Bruce) Carlson of Rockford; twelve grandchildren, Jodie (Chad) Carson; Aaron (Wendy) Tenney; Richard (Lauren) Roberts; Laurie (Will) Noblit; Jason Tenney; Beth Tenney; Kristin Tenney; Tim (Elizabeth) Carlson; Amy Tenney; Tiffany Carlson; Cody Carlson; Chase Carlson; seven great grandchildren, Madelynne, Annaley, Alaina, Katelyn, Hannah, Josiah, Lucy; his brothers, Jesse (Elsa) Tenney of Rochester Hills; Franklin (Betty) Tenney of Masontown, West Virginia; sister-in-laws, Juanita (David) Reed of Baltimore, Maryland; Leann Landis of Belington, West Virginia; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters and their spouses, Athena (Robert) Wright; Geraldine (Dale) Wright; Ilene (Roy) Fretenborough; Lavaun (Ed) Sparks; Laveur; and his brother, Percy. Graveside memorial services will be held at the Croton Township Cemetery with military rites at a later date and will be announced soon..
