Marcia Kay Schmidt, age 61, of Hesperia passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2018, at her home following a long battle with cancer. Marcia was born on October 31, 1956, in Grant to Thornton George and Carol Jane (VanBergen) Gillette and married Thomas Lee Schmidt on September 12, 1997. Marcia was a graduate of Holton High School and retired from Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial Hospital as a Registration Supervisor after 23 years of service. Marcia enjoyed traveling with her family, crocheting, reading, and caring for others. Marcia is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Schmidt; children, Krista (Andrew) Walenga of Grand Rapids and Stacey Hesse of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Jordyn Millsap, Mason Hesse, and Lucas Carvo; sister and brothers, Cheryl (Russ) Shappee of Bretheren, Terry Lee (Loretta) Bayne of Twin Lake, and Ricky (Paula) Gillette of Ravenna.
