Margaret "Peggy" L.P. Gunnell, 68, of White Cloud, MI, passed peacefully at home on September 21, 2020. Born in Chester, Pennsylvania, she was the third child and second daughter of the late Theodore James and Claire Marie (nee Lavin) Pidgeon. She graduated from Farmington Hills High School, and she became a registered nurse after studying at Butterworth Nursing School. While working in Lansing as head nurse of Sparrow Hospital's emergency room, she met her husband, Dr. Robert Gunnell. Later, she received her Bachelor's degree in English Literature at Grand Valley State University. Peggy was a resident of White Cloud for nearly 43 years and was an active member of her community. She was a member of St. Joseph's Parish, President of the school board for the White Cloud Public School System, Vice President of the Newaygo County Regional Education Service Agency, and Grants Supervisor for the Fremont Area Community Foundation. At the grassroots, she worked with the Athletic Booster Club for White Cloud Sports Teams, raised funds for the local library, and regularly helped at St. Joseph's Church functions. Peggy was an avid reader, a bird watcher, and an adventurous traveler—her last international journey was taking the Orient Express from Paris to Venice with her husband, Rob. Despite her long list of accomplishments, Peggy's greatest fulfillment came from being a wife and mother. Peggy is predeceased by her parents, her younger brother Thomas, and her elder brother James. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 43 years, her daughter Mary (Bryan Brady) Gunnell, son, John (Emily Gray) Gunnell, stepdaughters, Joanna (Scott) Springer and Stephanie (Art) Palacios; and her sister, Claire Marie (William) Scholl. VISITATION : Friday, September 25, 2020 from 5-8pm at Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. NOTE : during the visitation, a limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home and friends will need to rotate in and out of the funeral home during the visitation mouth and nose coverings are recommended. CELEBRATION OF PEGGY'S LIFE : Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel NOTE : during the Celebration of Life Services, a limited number of people will be permitted into the funeral home. Friends may choose to listen to the Celebration of Peggy's Life via radio broadcasting on their car radios in the funeral home parking lot on the day of the memorial services by tuning their radios to 99.9 starting 5 minutes prior to the services starting. Family members and friends not able to attend the services may watch the funeral services via Zoom and will need to contact the family for the Zoom link prior to the services.
