Margie L. Stender, age 74 of White Cloud, formerly of Jenison, passed away peacefully at her home following a long illness on Thursday. Margie was born on Aug. 20, 1933 in Jackson County, Iowa to Ernest and Letha (Barkley) Bickford and met and later married Carl Stender on Nov. 12, 1952 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Margie moved to White Cloud in 1990 from Jenison where she had been a Girl Scout Leader for 30 years and a longtime volunteer in the community. She was also a member the Newaygo VFW Auxiliary and the White Cloud Eagles. SURVIVORS : her husband of 56 years, Carl of White Cloud; her daughter, Nikki (Rick) Nelson of Hudsonville; her grandchildren, Samantha Nelson, Mackenzi Doornbos, Austyn Doornbos, RJ Doornbos III; her sisters, Doris Yaddof of Maquoketa, IA; Janice Mohr of Bettendorf, IA; sister-in-laws, Santha Bickford of Stevens Point, WI; Rosemary Bickford of Maquoketa, IA; several nieces and nephews. Preceded by her brothers, Bill and Leroy Bickford and her sisters, Lois Yaddof and Marilyn Hirons. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 21, 2008 from the Newaygo V.F.W. Memorial Hall with Chaplain Leo Rathburn presiding with interment in the White Cloud Cemetery.
