Mrs. Marguerite Crandell, age 95 of Fremont, passed away Tuesday at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. She was born on August 9, 1896 in Mendon, Mi to Lucius and Myrtle (Gardner) Rhodes and married Jack Crandell on May 30, 1937 in Indiana. She attended Fremont Schools and later graduated from Battle Creek High School. She went on to receive her Registered Nurse Degree from Nichols Memorial Nursing School in Battle Creek and worked for over 40 years as a surgical nurse at the Gerber Memorial Hospital. She was member of the Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont; Life member of the Order of Eastern Star, Magnolia Chapter #80 in Fremont; and was a member of the Women of the Moose. She is survived by her husband, Jack of Fremont; 2 sons, Richard A. (Phyllis) Crandell of Fremont; Fred Egleston of Burbank, CA; 1 daughter, Ms. Alice Don of Homestead, FL; 9 grandchildren, including Scott (Elizabeth) Crandell of Fremont; Curt (Sandra) Crandell of Fremont; Ms. Julie Crandell of Grand Rapids; 5 great grandchildren, including, Rachele J.K. Crandell of Fremont; 1 son-in-law, David (Myrna) Hanson of Las Vegas, Nevada; 1 nephew, Keith (Lois) McNabb of Tuscon, AZ. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter Louise Hanson in 1987. Funeral services were held on Friday, April 3, 1992 from the Crandell Funeral Home Chapel in Fremont with Rev. Harold Filbrandt and Bertram Vermeulen officiating with interment following in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may consider the Fremont United Methodist Church for a more lasting memorial.
