Marguerite May (Schurina) Goetz, age 87 of Hesperia, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. Marge was born on May 9, 1929 in Muskegon to Peter and Rosa Theresa (Kreuter) Schurina and graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Muskegon. She later married Wayne Balcom on October 11, 1947 in Muskegon. To this marriage, three children were born, Lynne, Sher, and Tim and they lived in Cloverville until they moved to Hesperia in 1961. After the move to Hesperia, they purchased Oakwood Resort on Campbell Lake until their divorce in 1966. Marge later married Perry Goetz in 1994 and Perry preceded her in death in 2003. Marge was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Brunswick, enjoyed knitting, writing letters, gaming; hunting, snowmobiling, and playing cards in her younger years; her cats; and especially treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marge was well known for her generosity and overwhelming kindness to many.

Marge is survived by her children, Lynne (Tom) Shlaffer, Sheryl (Ken) Scissions and Tim (Karen) Balcom, her sister Rose Schmuker and sister-in-law, Ruth (Selig) Balcom. Also her grandchildren, Jamie Lash, Monica Tucker, Robert (Rachel) Rumsey, Jill (Aaron) Priebe, Brendon (Saray) McCastle, Josh (Amanda) McCastle, Nichole (Jon Skok) Balcom and Joseph Balcom. Her many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Best friend Bonnie (Frees) Martin and many nieces and nephews. Marge was preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Farkas, Helen Iverson and her brother, Joe Schurina.

VISITATION : Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 12-2pm at Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICES : Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 2pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – Fremont Chapel.
