Marie Peggy Collar, age 93 of White Cloud, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 12, 2020 at her home. Peggy was born on October 20, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois to Harry A. and Marie (Thomas) Goble. Shortly after her birth, Peggy's mother passed away and she was raised by her uncle and aunt, Edward Franklin and Barbara Marie (Petrak) Goble. Peggy graduated from Visitation High School in Chicago, Illinois and later met and married John F. Collar on January 5, 1945 in Fayetteville, North Carolina; John preceded her in death on February 13, 2013. Peggy and John moved to the Robinson Lake area from Cincinnati in 1982. Peggy enjoyed playing with and pampering her many cats and dogs, shopping or going to the movies with her lady friends, and pursuing many crafts and hobbies; she had extensive collections of shoe and cat figurines and with John's help, built and elaborately furnished five dollhouses. Peggy always loved music and sang all the popular songs with her exceptionally warm, expressive voice. The Sweet Adeline Barbershop Chorus she sang with won the Midwest Regional Barbershop Championship. Peggy loved to dance and couldn't sit still if a polka was playing. She was a former member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in White Cloud. Peggy is survived by her children, Claudia A. (John) Mooter of Cincinnati, Ohio; John A. Collar of White Cloud; Christi J. (Harry) Hensley of Barnardsville, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Cara B. Hensley; Emory (Kimia Hesabi) Hensley; and David (Mandy) Mooter; daughter-in-law, Ellen Collar of Evanston, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Aaron D. Collar. VISITATION : On her 94th birthday, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel with FUNERAL SERVICES at 2:00 pm at the Crandell Funeral Home – White Cloud Chapel. Friends may consider memorial contributions to the Salvation Army in memory of Peggy. Family members and friends not able to attend the services may watch the funeral services via Zoom and will need to contact the funeral home for the Zoom link information prior to the services.
