January 16, 1921 – December 1, 2024
Marie Louise (Cordts) Sovinski, a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, World War II Veteran and friend, lived a life filled with grace, love, courage, and resilience, born January 16, 1921, she witnessed and embraced over a century of life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Marie passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on December 1st, 2024.
In her youth, Marie worked on her family's farm in White Cloud, Michigan where she developed a deep appreciation for family values, a strong work ethic, and perseverance. She attended Birch Grove country school near Loda Lake through the 8th grade. In order for her to attend high school, she moved into White Cloud and worked for her room and board. She continued her education in business school in Muskegon. She had an insatiable thirst for knowledge throughout her life, constantly seeking to learn and grow. After school, she joined the WAAC where she honorably served as an Administrative Specialist. During this time, she met her beloved husband of 77 years, Benjamin Sovinski. A swift courtship blossomed into a lifetime filled with love and memories. The couple spent their first year of marriage in New York City. As they began building their family, they decided to return to the Fremont area where they founded their business, The Hi-Lites Shoppers Guide and nurtured both a loving family and a thriving enterprise. Marie had an unparalleled zest for life. She was an avid world traveler, where she met people from all walks of life.
Through all her accomplishments and experiences in life, her greatest pride was her faith and her family. Marie is survived by her brother; George (bub) Cordts, her children; Michael (Kathy) Sovinski, Tony Sovinski, Daniel (Cindy) Sovinski, Jon (Julie A.) Sovinski, Mary Jane (Mike) Sullivan, Joe Sovinski and Julie M Sovinski, her extended family in Thailand; Charin Hansuebsai, and family along with several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband; Benjamin J. Sovinski, her father and mother; George Cordts and Martha (Horath) Cordts, her sisters; Georgia Nelson and Martha Waters, daughter and son-in-law Margaret and Tom Kowalski, and her grandson; Steven Sullivan.
A Rosary will be held at All Saints Catholic Church on Friday, December 6th from 9:00 AM - 9:30 AM with a Visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM. Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 AM with Military Honors to follow at 12:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a more lasting memory in Marie's honor to True North Medical Needs. Arrangements are being made by Crandell Funeral Home - Fremont Chapel.
