Obituary

Rose Marie Simms, age 71 of White Cloud and Zephyr Hills, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 15, 2011 following injuries received in an automobile accident. Marie was born on May 1, 1939 in Camas, Washington and moved to the White Cloud area in 1971 from Washington. Marie had worked at Housman Foods in White Cloud for several years in the freezer department. . Marie was an avid gardener with a green thumb and could make anything grow and her creative talent could make beauty out of sticks and old wood which enhanced her yard and many of her friends as well. During her early years in White Cloud, Marie raised and sold pigs and later switched to raising chickens. The 1500 chickens she raised and sold gave her the nickname chicken lady and her business card read Little Red Hen Poultry Farm. Marie is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Simms of Vancouver, Washington; Connie (Bill) Saunders of Vancouver, Washington; his sisters, Wilma Wittaker of Townsend, Washington; Rose Mary Mabry of Camas, Washington; many special friends around the White Cloud area. Cremation has taken place and a time of gathering to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Marie's home in White Cloud. Burial will take place in White Cloud Cemetery.
